BIOLO to Exhibit at National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) Show

The 2022 NACS Show is an annual conference and supplier expo scheduled for October 1 – 4 at the Las Vegas Convention Center where those within the C-Store and Fuel Retailing spheres convene to network, meet new suppliers, and explore a wide range of innovative products and services designed to solve needs within the industry.

BIOLO is excited to exhibit at the NACS show this year to share groundbreaking biodegradable straws and packaging solutions made from PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoate) – a plant-based biopolymer that is biodegradable in both soil and marine environments.

The drive for more sustainable solutions to address the global pollution problem brought on by single-use plastics is ongoing. Most businesses with dependencies on single-use plastics are tasked with continuous review of their operations, production, and shipping processes with an eye toward exploring single-use plastic alternatives in an effort to implement sustainable change.

BIOLO provides businesses with solutions to decrease – and possibly even eliminate – the need for single-use plastics without sacrificing quality or performance. What’s more, the use of BIOLO’s plastic alternatives may even enhance the brand’s marketplace positioning and, with robust color printing capabilities, enhance brand visibility on product packaging.

The marketplace has multiple plastic alternatives that claim varying degrees of “eco-friendliness” and biodegradability. Some of these options are created from PLA, a biopolymer that is industrially compostable, but not home compostable. Meaning PLA plastic products must be sent to recycling facilities specifically designed for decomposition – a requirement that makes wide-scale industrial decomposition at best inconvenient and, at worst, not cost-effective and difficult to scale.

BIOLO straws and packaging products are made from PHA, which breaks down completely in almost any bioactive environment, as well as in industrial compost facilities. PHA behaves just like traditional plastics until it enters a bioactive environment. The biopolymer is a natural fuel source for microbes, so once in contact with each other, the biodegradation process begins. Microbes will completely break down PHA and since PHA is entirely plant-based, no micro-plastics are left behind. BIOLO products can be conveniently discarded in home composting bins, and if they make their way to a landfill – or even the ocean – they will still completely biodegrade.

Visit the BIOLO team at booth (#3896) at the 2022 NACS Show and experience their compostable straws and bags in person. BIOLO’s products function and feel like traditional petroleum-based plastics, but have an entirely different life cycle. Visit BIOLO at the NACS Show to learn more.

The NACS Show Conference will take place October 1st through the 4th and the Expo will be open October 2nd through the 4th.
